Ingredients
frozen green beans (any kind in any amount)
water
olive oil
butter
seasoning to taste
Instructions
Place the frozen green beans into a non-stick pan that contains a lid. Pour in just enough water to partially submerge them. Place the lid on and bring to a boil. Cook for about 5-8 minutes or until the green beans are tender but not too soft.
Thoroughly drain the hot water and then add oil and butter to the pan. I use about a tablespoon of each for a standard 12oz bag of green beans. You want them to be fully covered but not too greasy.
Season to your liking with salt, pepper, garlic powder, creole seasoning, or anything else you'd like.
Sauté over medium high-heat, stirring regularly, for 5+ minutes or until they are done to your liking.
Notes
The reason I use both oil and butter for this recipe is because the oil prevents the green beans from sticking to the pan and the butter adds amazing flavor.
My family is obsessed with Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning. It's great on everything! It's a yummy replacement for salt that's not too spicy, even for kids.
If you don't own a skillet with a lid, no problem! You can boil them the same way without a lid, they just take a bit longer to cook and you'll want to toss them a bit since you won't have the steam effect. Use a strainer to remove the water once finished.
