Ingredients
1pound ground beef
20ouncescheese tortellini(fresh or frozen)
1(24oz)jar pasta sauce
4+ounces cream cheese(cubed)
1cupshredded mozzarella
¼cupgrated parmesan
seasoning to taste(Italian seasoning, salt, garlic powder, etc.)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350° F and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
Cook the tortellini according to the package instructions, drain, and set aside.
While the pasta is cooking, brown the ground beef in a large skillet and remove any excess grease. Add the jar of pasta sauce, seasoning of choice, and up to 8 ounces of cream cheese to the pan. Simmer for about 5 minutes or until the cheese is fully incorporated into the sauce.
Place the cooked tortellini into the pan with the sauce and mix well.
Dump the pasta mixture into your prepared casserole dish and evenly top with shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
Bake, uncovered, in the center rack of your oven for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese starts to brown.
Notes
The amount of cream cheese you use for this recipe is a personal preference. 4-8 ounces seems like a good amount depending on how cheesy you like things. I use the full block! Hehe.
Because this meal is so hearty, a fresh crisp salad pairs really well with it. A side of garlic bread is also a popular choice with hungry kids.
