An Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Dinner Recipe Your Entire Family Will Love
If you are looking for easy crockpot chicken recipes, your family is going to love this simple slow cooker creamy chicken and gravy! It’s made with just a few ingredients including chicken breasts, gravy mix, cream of chicken soup and sour cream. It’s absolutely wonderful served over mashed potatoes, rice or pasta. Even your picky kids will clean their plate!
I also like to serve this easy weeknight meal with some sort of veggies like green beans, carrots or broccoli to make it a complete healthy dinner recipe. And, it’s just as good leftover for lunch the next day!
Easy Crockpot Chicken And Gravy Recipe
- 2-3 large chicken breasts (approximately 1.5lbs)
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 2 packets chicken gravy mix
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- garlic powder & black pepper to taste
- mashed potatoes, rice or pasta for serving
Instructions
- Season the chicken with salt, pepper and garlic powder; set aside.
- Mix everything together in your crockpot except for the sour cream.
- Place the seasoned chicken into the mixture and pour the juices over top.
- Cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or until the chicken shreds easily.
- Once cooked, shred the chicken with a fork and then stir in the sour cream.
- Allow it to warm for an additional 15 minutes.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, rice or pasta. Yum!
We’ve made this chicken and gravy a few times, and to be honest, I actually prefer it over rice. It adds a bit more texture to the dish. Either way, it definitely reminds me of Thanksgiving dinner. It’s incredibly creamy and delicious, especially in the fall and winter when you want a big plate of comfort food.

Ingredients
- 2-3 large boneless chicken breasts (approximately 1.5 pounds)
- 2 packets chicken gravy mix
- 1 (10.5oz) can cream of chicken soup
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- pepper and garlic powder to taste
- mashed potatoes, rice or pasta for serving
Instructions
- Generously season your chicken breasts with black pepper and garlic powder.
- In your crockpot, whisk together the water, cream of chicken soup and both packets of chicken gravy mix.
- Add the seasoned chicken breasts and use a spoon to cover them well with the gravy mixture.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or until the chicken shreds easily.
- Once cooked, use a couple of forks to shred the chicken into small pieces.
- Stir in the sour cream and allow it to warm for an additional 15 minutes.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, rice or pasta.
